Now is the time to take whatever cash you have and invest into gold and silver. Gold just saw its biggest monthly price gain since November, and silver had its biggest monthly gain in 22 years. Gold is getting ready to permanently break $1,000 per ounce. The mainstream media won't begin recommending the investment into gold until it reaches $2,000 per ounce, at which time a mania will begin that will be bigger than the dot-com and Real Estate booms combined.

"Throughout the ages, many things have been used as currency: livestock, grains, spices, shells, beads, and now paper. But only two things have ever been money: gold and silver. When paper money becomes too abundant, and thus loses its value, man always turns back to precious metals. During these times there is always an enormous wealth transfer, and it is within your power to transfer that wealth away from you or toward you." --Michael Maloney

Relevant Definitions:

Silver has the highest electrical conductivity of any element and the highest thermal conductivity of any metal. It also has the highest optical reflectivity and is used in medicine and water treatment as it inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi.

As an investment, it is often used to ‘hedge’ against fiat currency inflation and as a store of value. Silver was coined since at least 700 BCE and the words for ‘silver’ and ‘money’ are the same in 14 languages. Silver has its own international currency symbol of XAG.

Bullion means bulk precious metal. The defining attribute of bullion is that it is valued by its mass and purity rather than by a face value as money. Bullion metals may be cast into bars or rounds or minted into coins.
Bullioner is a trader in bullion.

Bullion coin is a legal tender coin with a given face value that sells for a premium due to their small size and associated costs of manufacture, storage and distribution. Only government-authorized mints are allowed to use the term ‘coin’ which also makes them legal tender.

Bullion rounds are similar in shape to bullion coins but have been cast by non-governmental entity and therefore cannot use the term ‘coin’ which implies being currency and legal tender.

Bullion bars / ingots are the least expensive way to buy a precious metal in bulk. Bars typically range from 1 ounce (31.1 grams) to 1000 ounces (31.1 kg).

Common Silver Types and Measures:

Troy Ounces (t oz) are traditionally used to weigh precious metals. One troy ounce is equivalent to about 31.1034768 grams. This is different from the more common ‘avoirdupois’ ounce which is 28.3495231 grams. All our products are measured in both troy ounces and grams.

Fine Silver (3 Nines +) is defined as 999 / 1000 Purity. This is also expressed as .999 or 99.9% purity. This is the standard for silver bullion. Some items such as the Canadian Maple Leaf coins have an even higher .9999 (99.99%) silver content.

Sterling Silver is defined as 925 / 1000 Purity or .925. This is often used in silver jewelry.

Junk Silver is an informal term used for any silver coin which is in only fair condition and has no collectible value above the silver it contains. This often refers to old US coins (dimes and quarters) which were made out of .900 silver.
